Fog screen side view

Here is a side view of the UCSB fog screen. There are parallel sheets of air on either side that keep the fog (water mist) from disintegrating immediately. Without the supporting sheets of air, the fog becomes erratic quickly and a lot of capacity to display on the fog gets lost.
