Music industry watch

Future of Music Summit moves to Montreal!

Its official -- the Future of Music Policy Summit is moving from Washington DC to Montreal Canada! I've always felt that Washington DC, besides being a soul-less and evil place, was thoroughly devoid of decent music to be the host of the policy summit. Montreal is both in a free country and a city that is stacked to the gills with music and culture in general!

The announcement says:

Top names in music, technology, law, academia and policy will convene in Montreal, Canada from October 5-7, 2006 to discuss crucial issues facing musicians and the music industry. Presented in partnership with McGill University's Schulich School of Music and Pop Montreal, the Policy Summit will provide musicians, students, attorneys, advocates and policymakers with opportunity to examine the critical issues facing the international music community through a robust debate.

Big thumbs up to all the Future of Music folks! I like that the policy summit will coincide with a music festival! (Disclaimer: I'm on the Future of Music advisory board)
