New study shows that file sharers also spend big bucks on legal downloads
The BBC reports about a new study that supports earlier posts here that file sharers also spend lots of money on legal downloads:
The study found that regular downloaders of unlicensed music spent an average of £5.52 a month on legal digital music.
This compares to just £1.27 spent by other music fans.
"The research clearly shows that music fans who break piracy laws are highly valuable customers," said Paul Brindley, director of The Leading Question.
This has been obvious to me for a long time, but is it going to change the tune of the record company cartel? I really doubt it. All they can see are lost sales, and not new sales opportunities. Of course, none of this is new. I just wanted to mention it here for the record.
