Burning Man
The new art Scooter is no more
The new art Scooter is no more.
Yesterday I took it for a spin back to the place that sold it, and on the way home it didn't have enough power to make it back up the hill to Tanglewood.
I decided to use the GPS on my bike to check the distance travelled, and it turns out to be less than 3.5 miles -- less than half as promised. That coupled with a 4-6 hour recharge time, killed this scooter as a viable Burning Man project.
So, we just returned it. Sigh.
UPDATE: I'm considering a Honda Ruckus to take its place:

yeah. electric just doesn't go terribly far. Typically the range is for like a 100lb rider on flat level ground. you'd probably get 20% of that distance if you had to go constantly uphill.
There are some full size scooters that have 1500W motors and like 20 mile ranges, but at that point, you might as well look at a gas scooter.
